The 10th Anniversary of A Life of Death: The Redemption
Laurie Ann Smith, a child rights advocate and popular online radio talk show host of 'The Whole Issue,' first burst onto the scene a decade ago. Smith, on her own personal journey to recovery as a survivor of child abuse, was asked to partner with a small grassroots nonprofit organization based in Michigan to host an online radio show.
Smith agreed and began hosting the online radio show 'DTR' with two unknown hosts, Lee Roberts and Donna Kshir. The three would bond and have a lifelong friendship but not before flipping the educational script of 'DTR' to controversial by sharing their own life's experiences; ultimately changing the way people talk child abuse.
Smith could easily relate to their audience. She strived and made it her mission to help those whose lives were destroyed by abuse. Later that year, she released her autobiography, 'A Life of Death: The Redemption' detailing her turbulent life as a survivor of physical, mental and emotional abuse from her parents. Her story was one that many of their listeners could relate to.
The book was written to create public awareness to help stop the cycle of abuse, but also let the public understand what looks perfect on the outside in no way depicts what happens on the inside behind closed doors. Abuse does not discriminate. Abuse happens in the best of homes, by both men and women, by those who are respected or highly valued in the community.
Smith would go on to release two more books; 'La Veta Juvies' and 'One Child Abuse Survivor 2 Another.' Both books would quickly flourish, along with 'DTR' becoming Michigan's number one 24 hour live stream online radio show for 5 straight years until the trio would leave and follow other avenues and adventures.
After a decade, Smith is still writing and hosting online radio shows. She and her two best friends, Roberts and Kshir, dedicate their time to AU4H Radio and Advocates United for Humanity, a small grassroots humanitarian nonprofit organization based in Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
'A Life of Death: The Redemption' was re-released on January 31 by Northern Books Publishing Company. Smith has several appearances and interviews in the works. Her first scheduled sit down interview is on Wednesday, March 3, at 9pm EST 'LIVE' on YouTube on AU4H Radio's 'Real Talk.' The interview will then be distributed to various podcast formats. 'Real Talk' is hosted weekly by Smith, Roberts and Kshir; discussing numerous social issues and relevant topics happening around the globe.

All proceeds from the sales of Smith's books go to Advocates United for Humanity's Community Kids Watch Program; promoting see something, hear something, suspect something -- say something! The program is in remembrance of 9 year old Anson Stover who died, at the hands of his aunt, from unspeakable abuse.
