Laurie Ann Smith takes the reader on a journey back to the "years in between". Those teen-age years where children struggle to find themselves, to test the limits, test the boundaries and without even realizing it, find out just who they are and what they are made of. 

Those "years in between" are a struggle for many teens as they search for their own place within their own families and society. Many teens find themselves and make it through without too much damage. Many teens find themselves in a whole lot of trouble. 

Laurie encourages every teen who reads this book to look for the goodness in this life. I hope that any teen who reads this book and identifies with it, understands the pain of what it is to be abused, to know that their friends are being abused, or are using drugs and involved with substance abuse, will reach out for help.

Two grandmothers from Clinton County continue to petition to make the state’s child abuse registry open to the public just as the sex offenders’ registry is open to the public under Megan’s Law. Donna M. The Importance of Opening the Central Registry Podcast

Lee Roberts and I (Donna Kshir) want to open the Central Registry. Wouldn’t you want to know if someone you are newly getting involved with or invite into your life, your home or your children’s life had a violent past? If they abused, neglected or killed a child? Wouldn’t you want to know? I would want to know and I believe we have that right to know to protect our children. The 10th Anniversary of A Life of Death: The Redemption

  Help commemorate the 10th anniversary of 'A Life of Death: The Redemption.' Laurie Ann Smith, a child rights advocate and popular online radio talk show host of 'The Whole Issue,' first burst onto the scene a decade ago. Smith, on her own personal journey to recovery as a survivor of child abuse, was asked to partner with a small grassroots nonprofit organization based in Michigan to host an online radio show.  Smith agreed and began hosting the online radio show 'DTR' with two unknown hosts, Lee Roberts and Donna Kshir. The three would bond and have a lifelong friendship but not before flipping the educational script of 'DTR' to controversial by sharing their own life's experiences; ultimately changing the way people talk child abuse.  Smith could easily relate to their audience.
